This Saturday, October 1th, control of the Internet’s root server was transferred from the American Government to the independent non-profit organization, ICANN.
You probably do not recognize any difference as an internet user, but it is a great step for the International Internet society.
By DH Hostmaster we salute the open Internet and we think it is important that control of the root server is no longer in hands of one single country.
ICANN is controlled by a so called multi stakeholder model, which includes international branch organizations, the industry, ngo’s, civil society groups and private companies.
“This stakeholder model is by principal a better form of government and help secure a gathered Internet, which is available for everyone” says our CEO in DK Hostmaster Jakob Bring Truelsen.
That’s why we say: Congratulations!
