DIFO’s mission is to contribute to a global cooperation that promotes a free, secure and accessible internet for the benefit of all.
DIFO is especially involved in the two international domain name organisations, CENTR and ICANN, where we participate in conferences, working groups and organisational work, helping to shape the internet of tomorrow.
CENTR is an association of all European country-specific top-level domains (ccTLDs), while ICANN is the organisation that manages the internet’s root server.
These two organisations, both of which are important players, serve different purposes and varying influence in relation to the international internet community.

We have a special relationship with our Nordic colleagues in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Iceland.
